This website is a great resource for science! In fact, Mrs. Baird will be using it throughout the year to drive her instruction. I encourage students to watch videos, complete investigations, and browse the site to become science investigators!
Use various tools on this website to learn fun facts about our world. This is a great tool to use for our compare/contrast essay. Students can compare/contrast two different animals, countries, states, and continents. There is also a dictionary option that will help students with frayer model concepts.
*You can also use world book kids to research decimals and place value for the teacher of the day project. It is a valuable way for students to learn how to cite articles. Just scroll down to the bottom of the article and look for MLA format. They will need to highlight this and then place it within their project *
Need extra help with making spelling more fun for your child? This website provides extra worksheets as well as fun activities! Each week I will upload the spelling words directly into the site so that students can practice. There is even an online test that can be completed for extra credit. Simply print out the certificate, sign it, and have your child bring it into school. This the link to my page on spelling city. Students in basic and challenge groups can find their spelling lists and games to play!
ABCYa! We use this website in math stations on the smartboard and computers. It is a great way for your child to practice multiplication and division facts, while playing fun games. The students love the racing games!
Math can be confusing for many students and finding ways to make it easier can be hard. Xtra Math provides online assistance for your child. We will be completing Xtra Math weekly to increase student progress on basic facts and skills. I encourage your to allow your child to practice these skills and play these games weekly as well. You can even take practice tests on this website! I will be sending home the login information on Monday, which will include your child's password.
Geometry, what fun! This website includes measuring angles, classifying angles and complimentary and congruent angles formed by parallel lines. What a fun way to introduce some hard concepts through the use of popular games. Thought you would enjoy it too!
Another great math website from a fellow teacher. This site allows you to pick a grade level, topic, and concept to assist your child. Mr. Maffesoli has great tools to help children be successful within mathematics.
